First of all, this plan began as a way to help people avoid weight gain during the holidays, or times when temptation is at it’s highest.

It is now a plan that people are using every day to change their eating habits, lose the weight, and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

Now I am not going to say that it is easy as pie.  No diet, or change in eating patterns is, otherwise, there would be very few people looking to lose weight. Right?

The 17 Day Diet Book consists of 4 cycles that take you through an entire weight loss process. There is also a 17 minute exercise DVD included to help you lose even more weight.

The 4 Cycles of The 17 Day Diet Book

Cycle 1

Accelerate

This cycle begins the cleansing of your system, and begins burning fat for rapid weight loss.  Because this is also the time when you will lose water weight, it promises a total weight loss of 10-15 pounds.

There is limited calorie intake of around 1,200 for this 17 day cycle.  Some of the foods permitted include unlimited vegetables that are free of starch, lean proteins which includes 2 eggs per day (only for those who have regular cholesterol levels).

You are allowed a limited amount of fruits, yogurts, and 1-2 servings of what he calls “friendly fats”, such as olive oil or flaxseed.

Cycle 2

Activate

This cycle resets the metabolism.  There is a slightly higher allowance of calories, and will result in an additional weight loss of 5-6 pounds.

The menu for cycle 2 is similar to the first, but the fat intake is reduced to one serving, but adds 2 servings of healthy carbs, increasing calorie intake to about 1,500.

Cycle 3

Achieve

This is the stabilation period. You will re-learn how to eat carbs, and establish better eating habits for the long run.

There is a slower rate of weight loss in this cycle.  Common loss is 2-3 more pounds.

The food list is larger to avoid that feeling that you are on a never-ending diet.

With this cycle comes the addition of the option for one serving of alcohol, and 100 calorie snacks.

Cycle 4

Arrive

You made it. When you reach the arrival phase, you have met your weight loss goal.

This cycle combines the first 3, and, you can enjoy your favorite foods on the weekends. That will help you to feel like you are not being punished, and will also help with the temptation of splurging during the week.

This is maintenance mode. Once you have reached cycle 4, you are strictly maintaining your weight.

The 17 Day Diet understands that not all people will reach their weight loss goal in cycle 3.

If the goal is not met, you simply return to Cycle 2 and 3 until you arrive at your goal weight.

How Much Exercise is Required?

During Cycle 1, your exercise should be limited to walking for about 17 minutes per day, as you will not be consuming enough calories for a strenuous exercise program.

As you move towards the 2nd and 3rd cycles, you should increase your exercise to about 150 to 300 minutes per week to help you reach your final weight loss goal.

The 17 Day Diet may be similar to other plans that you have seen, however, it is clear, easily understood, and the food list is reasonable, meaning you don’t have to drive to another state to find ingredients.
